John Thomson is a 48-year-old actor who was born Patrick Francis McAleer.
He grew up in Preston, Lancashire and married Samantha Sharp in May 2005.
The couple have two daughters together - Sophia Melody and Olivia.
John and Samantha went on to divorce in 2015 and, at the time, said that their children remained their "absolute priority".
The actor has previously been very open about his hard-partying lifestyle and boozy past - but has been sober for the past 10 years.
Speaking to the Mirror back in 2013, he said: "When you have a problem with drink and that’s public, it makes your life a lot harder because you get a reputation.
"A lot of actors have similar problems but they’re lucky in that they deal with their drinking in private, not in public."

John Thomson plays Manchester United fan Pete Gifford in Cold Feet.
He is known for being insensitive and often blurts out what he is thinking, which in turn upset wife Jenny (Fay Ripley) at the time.
After Jenny tells Pete that she has a crush on Adam Williams (James Nesbitt), he ends up sleeping with co-worker Jo Ellison (Kimberley Joseph). Jenny finds out and ends up demanding that he leave the house.
The couple separated in series three and Pete later marries Jo in series four after following her to Australia.
In series five Pete and Jo end up splitting up after has an affair with a co-worker (Richard Armitage).
When series six aired in 2016, Jenny and Pete had remarried.

Most TV and film addicts will recognise John's face from a number of film and TV series over the years.
His first big role was in Cold Feet, from 1997, and then he went on to play Barry in Men Behaving Badly in 1998.
He then starred in Playing the Field in 1998 to 2000 and other TV series.
In 2008 to 2009 he appeared in TV series Kingdom before starring in Coronation Street as Jesse Chadwich.
Other films he has starred in include Northern Soul (2014), Billionaire Boy (2016), and Grimsby (2016).

John is currently single, but The Sun revealed how he is looking for love on hook-up app Bumble.
The star split from wife of ten years Samantha in 2015.
