Unsurprisingly, the Sandwell Aquatics centre will host the Swimming, Para Swimming and Diving events during the games.

Most surrounding roads have controlled parking and Manor Road into Francis Road is closed off.

Smethwick Hall Park is still accessible at this time but roads are likely to be busy.

Solihull

While no roads around the NEC are closed, according to the Commonwealth Games website, the area will be busy.

The NEC is hosting Badminton, Boxing, Netball, Para Power Lifting, Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis and Weightlifting.

As the centre is already used to large events, the usual road disruptions will be in place.

Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa

Athletes have made a home in the Warwick University campus village but Myton Fields will also be home to the Cycling Road Races.

The roads around Victoria Park will be restricted to residential access only from Friday, July 29, to Saturday, August 6, for the Lawn Bowls events.

At the University, Academic Loop Road will be partially closed to limit disruption for the athletes.

For the Cycling Road Race there will be closures inside and around the course for the safety of all involved.

  • Prince's Drive

Within the loop of these roads there will be no vehicle access and there will be major disruptions in the surrounding area.

The A46 near Budbrooke will remain open, although both slip roads will be closed - expect traffic and slow moving vehicles.

Which public transport will be affected by the Commonwealth Games?

There is no parking near the venues so public transport is crucial if you are attending anything.

Organisers have given free access to public transport for all ticket holders.

This will work anywhere within the West Midlands on the day of your event, although Lee Park Valley travel is not included.

The rail strikes will severely disrupt much of the train services but park and rides should be available instead.

National Express has a dedicated network of long distance coaches set up for the Commonwealth Games.

For each venue, the Commonwealth Games website has a journey planner which you can use to avoid strike action.
